If you want a safer, smoother-running pelletizing line, start with the right compound fertilizer granulator operation precautions.
Fix the Machine Correctly First
Anchor a stationary granulator with concrete. This kills vibration and keeps shafts aligned.
If you move sites often, bolt the granulator and motor onto a sturdy angle-steel base.

After installation, check every bolt. Make sure the motor shaft and granulator shaft run absolutely parallel.
Then check belt tension. Too tight strains bearings. Too loose causes slip and heat.
Always Inspect Before You Start
Turn the rotor by hand. It must spin freely with no scraping or impact sounds inside.
Confirm the rotation direction is correct. A reversed rotor can damage blades and throw material backward.
Verify all bearings are properly lubricated. Dry bearings will seize quickly under load.
Never Change Pulley Sizes Casually
Don’t swap drive pulleys just to adjust speed. The granulator is designed for a fixed RPM range.
An oversize pulley overspeeds the rotor and stresses parts. An undersize pulley lowers pellet quality.
Keep the original pulley setup unless the manufacturer advises a change.

Warm Up Without Material
After powering on, let the machine run empty for two to three minutes.
Use this idle time to spot abnormal vibration, odd noises, or hot bearing housings.
Feed material only when the idle run is perfectly stable.
Feed Evenly and Stay Alert
Deliver material at a steady rate. Overloading causes blockages. Starvation wears out the chamber faster.
Stop the machine instantly if you notice strange knocks, high bearing temperatures, or material spurting out.
Screen all feedstock carefully. Remove metal chunks, stones, and hard objects before they reach the hopper. One stray bolt can destroy a rotor and hurt someone.
Stand Safely While Feeding
Always stay to the side of the feed inlet, never directly in front. Rebounding material can cause injury.
For long stalks or fibrous stems, keep a loose, open-palm grip. A tight wrap can pull your hand into the cutting zone.

Shut Down in the Right Order
Stop the infeed system first. Let the machine run until all material inside is fully discharged.
Only then switch off the main power. This stops leftover material from hardening inside and blocking the next start.
After stopping, clean the machine and note any unusual events during the shift.
Follow the 300-Hour Maintenance Rule
After about 300 hours of operation, clean the main bearings and change the lubricant.
Fill the bearing housing only one-third full, never more than half. Overfilling traps heat and ruins the grease.
If the granulator will stand idle for a long time, remove the drive belt. An unused belt left under tension warps permanently.
